Rarified Air-World's only flying Pitcairn PA-18 arrives in Oshkosh
Around this time last year, Jack and Kate Tiffany, of Spring Hill, Ohio, and the crew of Leading Edge Restorations, were anticipating the flight of their recently restored Pitcairn PA-18 Autogiro to Oshkosh for AirVenture 2008. However, the rotor blades were significantly damaged during testing about a week prior to Oshkosh and the flight had to be called off.
Stay Connected at AirVenture with Expanded Wi-Fi Service
Another one of the many site improvements EAA AirVenture Oshkosh visitors can expect in 2009 is expanded Wi-Fi coverage on convention grounds. EAA has invested significantly in the challenging task of providing wireless connectivity to a much greater coverage area, allowing Internet access for thousands of people using laptops and smart phones.
Michael Goulian to Receive Bill Barber Award
Renowned air show pilot Michael Goulian of Maynard, Mass., will receive the 2009 Bill Barber Award for Showmanship during EAA AirVenture 2009, July 27-August 2. The annual award is presented by World Airshow News.
Aspen Avionics Visits Oshkosh
Brad Hayden, director of marketing for Aspen Avionics, visited EAA Headquarters in Oshkosh on June 25 to renew Aspen's partnership with EAA to host the North 40 Welcome Center during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2009, having instituted the Center for the first time in 2008.
